Kewill and e-customs partner to ease customs burden
19 March 2008
Guildford & Leatherhead - Kewill (LSE: KWL), a leading provider of global solutions for the dynamic supply network and e-customs, a web-based customs clearance provider, have formed a partnership that will enable importers, exporters, and their service providers worldwide, to cut the cost of UK customs clearance and ensure efficient deliveries through guaranteed compliance, shipping visibility and secure transactions.
The timing of the partnership is critical as businesses look to trade more efficiently in the face of growing competition, growing costs and the growing burden of compliance. As Jacquie Boast, Chief Marketing Officer at Kewill, explains, “With more and more European legislation on electronic delivery of import and export documentation coming into force, companies will need to explore the benefits of electronic solutions for customs documentation.”
Using e-customs, a web-based customs clearance solution, companies can get control of their UK import and export procedures, and reduce their landed costs by automating formerly manual processes. Kewill in turn currently has over 300 companies in the UK that use its SPEX solution, which facilitates the production of export documentation for customs authorities across the world. Through the partnership with e-customs, Kewill SPEX customers that export from the UK will be able to comply with upcoming EU legislation and reap the benefits of a robust, industrial strength, onward electronic connection to HM Customs.
Evan Puzey, Global VP Product Management of Kewill said, “At Kewill, we can demonstrate that customs solutions need to be developed, delivered and supported by local domain experts. We apply these same high standards to our customs partnerships across the globe, to ensure that our customers benefit from local expertise with local customs authorities. We chose to partner with e-customs because we believe they have unrivalled UK customs experience.”
Alun Davies, Managing Director of e-customs said, “We partnered with Kewill in order to give us greater access to global service providers that need greater control over their UK customs obligations. e-customs is the only web-based customs declaration business with first hand customs experience and the ability to link to all inventory ports in the UK. Our consultancy arm, Bell Davies, will offer even further value to this partnership with the provision of deep, local customs expertise.”
